FAQ Page

When did HQ Dumpsters begin?

Our roots go back to 1991 with a company called HQ Landscaping. We began to add refuse collection, recycling, clean-up and other maintenance services in 2008. Through it all, the firm has been family-owned. This has helped us maintain the customer focus, community loyalty, and dedication to high quality that has identified us from the very start. It’s explained in more detail on the About Us page.

What are your hours of operation?

Our office is open for you to stop in Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5pm. Calls are answered Monday-Friday 7:30 am-5pm. If you call after hours, you have the option to leave a voice message and we will return your call as soon as we return to the office.

We observe six holidays per year - New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The office is closed on these days and there is no trash pickup.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, money orders, bank checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

What types of services do you offer?

  • 10 to 30-yard roll-off containers for construction sites, home remodeling, demolition projects, household cleanouts, concrete, stumps brush, metal, and more.
  • Compactors and frontload containers for commercial, industrial and condominium accounts for trash, cardboard, and single stream recycling.
  • 68 and 96-gallon toters for residential, commercial, industrial and condominium accounts for trash and single stream recycling.

What towns do you service?

HQ is constantly growing and now offers commercial and residential services beyond our original Southington base. Call to inquire. For roll-off containers we cover the entire State of Connecticut.

How can I pay my bill?

We try to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, and offer many options.  If you pay with a credit card or debit card, we offer free auto-pay, you can pay online on our website, or you can call us at 860-422-5678 to make a card payment by phone. You can also pay in person by visiting our office at 897 South Main Street, Plantsville - for after-hours payments there is a drop box near the front door.  If you prefer to mail a check, it can be sent directly to our bank at Dept. 5630, PO Box 4110, Woburn, MA 01888-4110.

Roll Offs

Do you accept hazardous waste in any of your containers?

No. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY HAZARDOUS WASTE IN ANY OF OUR CONTAINERS. This includes, but is not limited to, motor oil, antifreeze, asbestos, liquid paint, poisons, chemicals, toxins, flammable items, and gasoline. Call to inquire.

Do I have to be on site during container drop off?

We strongly recommend someone be available during drop-off to confirm where the container should be placed, to sign for delivery, and to discuss other matters, regarding pick-up.

How much is a ton?

2,000 pounds.

Is there a door on the roll-off?

Yes, on the back side. It swings open so you can ‘walk’ items into the container.

Does the roll off come with a rental time?

Yes, typically seven days. Anything over the seven days is $10 per day or $50 per week. Please call for any specials we may be running for long-term rental prices.

Do I have to call to schedule the pickup of the roll-off?

Yes. We don't pick up until the customer calls stating that they are finished with it. Anything over the rental period will be charged at $10 per day or $50 per week.

What types of services do you offer?

  • 68 and 96-gallon toters for residential, commercial, industrial and condominium accounts for trash and single stream recycling.

How far in advance do I need to place an order?

To be safe, we recommend ordering 2 to 3 days before you need a container. We deliver Monday thru Saturday.

Do containers have a weight limit?

Yes, all roll-off containers have weight limits. If you go over the allowed weight there will be an additional per-ton charge that will be prorated.

Are there any extra charges?

There are additional charges for tires, mattresses and box springs. Call for other items.

How high can I fill the container?

Level to the top of the container, with nothing sticking out.

Do you ever have special deals or promotions?

We keep our prices as low as possible for all customers, in lieu of offering special deals for some.  We offer a discount equivalent to 1 month free per year for prepaying in advance for the year.
